I am passionate about my work as a clinician, teacher, mentor, dream tender and poetic scholar. In addition to writing the first and only modern book on the Five Spirits of ancient Chinese medicine, I have worked for over three decades to integrate the principles and practice of Chinese medicine with Western depth psychology to create Alchemical Healing, a therapeutic modality directly focused on the psycho-spiritual and soul issues of our time.

Responding to the needs of a small group of students at Tri-State College of Acupuncture, where I taught for fifteen years, I developed the Alchemical Healing Mentorship. Expanding far beyond my original vision, the Mentorship has served as a training program, learning collaborative, and alchemical laboratory for an ever-growing international brigade of health care practitioners and committed explorers of healing and consciousness transformation.

Having co-founded A New Possibility in 2012 with my husband, Benjamin, we have since gone on to write The Alchemy of Inner Work, a manifesto for the emergence of a new view of health and healing and a guidebook for the alchemical adventure of personal inner work that leads to global outer change. My third book, Kigo: Exploring the Spiritual Essence of Acupuncture Points through the Changing Seasons, brings together my over three decades of clinical experience into a handbook for practitioners who are looking to touch the soul through the portal of the points.

I am now thrilled to be mentoring practitioners, while integrating the vision of our work into a wide array of online courses that will facilitate conversation and activism around critical issues related to personal and planetary healing.

Waking up is hard to do. In my work as an astrologer, I lean into the wisdom of the cosmos, looking to the ancient language of the stars to help people know themselves more deeply, to discover meaning in the inevitable challenges of embodiment, and ultimately to actualize their potential in crafting a purposeful life.

My vision for A New Possibility coalesced in 2005, partly the hope of over two decades of unrelenting personal soul searching but more so a premonition of who I was still in the process of becoming. I had met Lorie nine years earlier (you can read that story in our book!) and the crucible of our intimacy had initiated healing I knew I needed but hadn’t previously been ready to take on.

Our years of collaboration in the Alchemical Healing Mentorship, the creative birthing of The Alchemy of Inner Work, and the crises facing us in this current cultural moment have brought greater urgency to my dream of building healing community. The network you’ll find here is the expression of this calling. The world needs each of us to do the work of waking up. My passion and commitment are to this awakening. My passion is digital design, and my speciality is helping people and companies bring their vision to the online world and social media platforms. After studying graphic design and digital marketing at university, I opened my own bespoke branding business, LuisLemc.Co. Since then I have been fortunate enough to work extensively in sustainability, with many eco-minded companies and clients.

Born and raised in South America near the seaside city of Santa Marta, Colombia, I grew up close to nature and realized from a young age the need for planetary healing.

Following a tragedy when I was 18 years old, I embarked on my own journey of personal healing, which led me to where I am today. It is with great pleasure that I am able to combine my passions of work with healing.

To any other animal lovers that may be reading this, ask me about the Puppy Rescue Foundation that I plan to open to help find homes for the many wonderful Colombian street dogs.

“No one was yet there when we formed the circle. I first met Lorie in 2002, and instantly ‘knew’ I had to study with her. She offered the promise of what I intuitively sensed was the ‘something more’ that lay at the heart of Chinese medicine. Working with her transformed my life.”

I don’t know what to call it…inception, convergence, inspiration. I was in a sacred pre-Incan cave carved into a monolithic rock in the hills above Cusco, Peru. I’d completed my Chinese medicine studies and had been working with Lorie, as well as a shaman in Peru, for about two years. The spirit of the plant medicine asked if I was ready to commit. My mind didn’t understand the question, but my heart and soul knew the answer, ‘Yes!’

After that journey everything changed. My life work began in earnest. I am passionate about Alchemical Healing at all levels…personal, social, global.

My particular calling, I believe, is that of being a conduit—a connector of ancient wisdom with rational thought, of ‘difficult to grasp’ with ‘ease of access,’ and, of ‘that which seems unknowable’ with ‘that which is obvious.’ It is not in service of forming a synthesis, but in making space for an ‘irruption’ of something beautiful and new.

My love affair with nature likely began lifetimes ago, but my earliest memories are from growing up as black girl in rural South Jersey. Creeks, steams, trees, rocks, and beaches were my allies. At recess, my best friend and I would crawl into a cubby beneath a tree shrub and listen to her secrets.

This connection to the natural world is the foundation of my passion for indigenous religions. In 2003, I had a life changing experience in the Gambia, West Africa. There, the late Baba Ishangi- a shaman and medicine man- taught me how to have a direct conversation with nature in order to potentize the magic in herbal remedies. Upon my return from West Africa in my early 20s, I joined an African based spiritual community called Ausar Auset Society. I spent eight years in their priestess training learning the mystical arts of astrology, divination, meditation, gemstones, yoga and Qi Gong. This was my first introduction to the Five Elements of Chinese Medicine, and the magic literally at our fingertips.

In 2006, I was diagnosed with what was then called Premature Ovarian Failure, and told that it would be impossible to conceive a child. This devastating news was the lead of my alchemical journey, and the prima materia for my soul’s alchemy.

Through my healing process, I was introduced to- and fell absolutely in love with- flower essences and acupuncture. These healing modalities reconnected me to the soul of nature living in every cell of my body. Through working this magic, I was able to conceive and give birth to a radiant daughter- my daily reminder that miracles can and do exist.

Since that time, I have been immersed in alchemy and nature-based healing modalities that focus on the intersection of mind and body. Reading the Five Spirits inspired me to pursue a Master of Science from Tri-State College of Acupuncture, and I have studied Alchemical Healing with Lorie and Benjamin for over 8 years. As a yoga teacher, I use music and movement as medicine I am also honored to be the first practitioner in the United States authorized by the Flower Essence Society to offer their practitioner certification training. I created the Elementals line of flower essences to make Five Element principles and flower essences available in our home medicine cabinets.

My goal is to help us to witness the miracle in the mundane, so that we may all connect to the transformative magic that the world is calling for.

Growing up in Azerbaijan, the northwest corner of Iran, to Assyrian parents was a blessing, where Assyrian, Armenian, Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic, and sometimes Russian languages danced with and often mixed with the Persian poetic language. In those lands, most physicians of early times also had the title of alchemist, a title well-respected and not taken lightly. These physicians were learned astrologers, seekers of divine wisdom, and mathematicians as well.

Rabi Deena, my maternal grandmother, was a scholar and poet, and also the medicine woman of her village Babari in Ourmieh. Her specialty was healing infections, using what looked to me like black powders, which later I learned were a mixture of burned almonds, bone marrow, walnuts and more. Among her wild repertoire was opium, urine, colostrum, frankincense, and an array of plant essences and local herbs. I was very skeptical!

It was not until I left that part of the world and immersed myself deeply in Western medicine as an IVF Embryologist,

and due to my own healing journey, that I began appreciating and diving into holistic healing, eventually studying Chinese medicine where I met Lorie as one of my instructors.

Upon graduating in 2007, I joined the Alchemical Healing Mentorship with Lorie and Benjamin. Through my continuous study since then, as well as my personal supervision with both Lorie and Benjamin, I have undertaken an unimaginable alchemical journey where my life turned from a garden variety slow entropy to what I call a profound transformation into a new possibility.

I am deeply grateful for the teachings I continue to receive from Lorie and Benjamin and it gives me great pleasure to be part of their support team at A New Possibility. This teaching I carry into my practice, where I get to support my patients in navigating their healing by shining the light on the implicit divine order that is within their health crises/life chaos, calling them closer to their wholeness. I am truly humbled and privileged to be a part of this work.
